OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Alabama A&M men's golf wrapped up the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate on Tuesday, April 12 in what was a rain shortened affair that would see the tournament cut to 36 holes with half that number played on the final day. Overall they placed 13-of-13 with a 327-328-655.
Heavy rains and thunderstorms led to the second round being suspended on Day 1 with the course flooding in places. The teams finished that round today after resuming play at 11 a.m.
Sophomore
Felipe Gomez Lopez (Bogota, Columbia) led the Bulldogs with a 74-80-154 that was good for a tie for 39-of-75 while senior
Jason Johnson (Toledo, Ohio) shot a 79-79-156 to finish tied for 53
rd.
Wright State claimed the tournament championship with a 577 with Tennessee Tech four strokes back in second at 581. UT-Martin (590), Belmont (591) and Murray State rounded out the top five.
The Bulldogs return to the course next week when they head to Flowood, Mississippi for the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament. This year's championship will be held at The Refuge Golf Course from April 18-20. The winner will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Championships.
