BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Brandon McLaren (Clifton, Hanover, Jamaica) delivered a tremendous performance this past week, earning Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the league on Friday, April 1.
 
Competing at the Margaret Simmons Invitational hosted by Murray State, McLaren produced one of the best performances of his career.
 
He would win the javelin (1-of-24, 57.99m) and finish 2-of-32 in the long jump (6.99m) to go with a 12-of-32 (40.60m) outing in the discus. Those efforts also helped the Bulldogs to a season-best 8-of-23 finish as a team.
 
It is the second career weekly honor for McLaren, following Men's Track Athlete of the Week recognition on March 30, 2021.
