HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M women's soccer has announced a 17-game schedule for 2022 that features opponents from seven different conferences and nearly half of that schedule will be played at home.
The season will kick off with two home scrimmages with the first one against Evansville (7-5-7) on August 10 before taking on Alabama-Huntsville (6-7-3) two days later on August 12. The regular season will be in full swing on August 18 at Charleston (3-12-3) before returning home for a three game homestand, starting with Troy (7-10-1) of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) on August 22, ASUN member Jacksonville State (7-10-2) on August 26 and Jacksonville (7-8-3) on August 28.
The Bulldogs will then travel to Southern Illinois (0-15-1) on September 1, staying on the road to face off against Austin Peay (4-10-3) on September 11. AAMU will then return home to take on 2021 SBC Tournament quarterfinalist Arkansas-Little Rock (7-7-6) before heading to OVC member UT-Martin (11-6-1) on September 18. The latter will be one of their toughest challenges of the season as the Skyhawks narrowly lost 1-0 against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in the OVC Championship.
A&M's next opponent will be 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Champions and NCAA Tournament qualifier Prairie View (13-4-1) on September 23 as they open SWAC play in Prairie View, Texas. Two days later they will battle against Texas Southern (5-8-3) on September 25 before returning to Huntsville to host Arkansas-Pine Bluff (6-14) on October 7 and SWAC Tournament Runner-Up Grambling (9-7-3) on October 9.
The Bulldogs will then travel to Southern (5-10-2) on October 14 before heading to Jackson State (4-12-3) two days later on October 16. They will then return to the Rocket City to host Mississippi Valley State (0-13-0) on October 21 and then Alcorn (3-14-0) on October 23. The latter will also serve as Senior Day for the Bulldogs.
AAMU will then take to the road to battle in-state rivals Alabama State (7-9-3) for their final regular season game on October 28 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Following the regular season, the top eight teams will then head to the 2022 SWAC Tournament. Currently that is scheduled for November 3-7 at a site yet to be announced. The SWAC Champion will then earn an automatic berth to the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
