HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M women's volleyball has announced a 32-match slate that includes schools from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Southern Conference (SoCon) and Conference-USA as well as a 16-match schedule against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponents.
AAMU will get the season started at the FAU Invitational in Boca Raton, Florida first taking on host and C-USA member Florida Atlantic (11-14) on August 26. They would then face Lehigh (8-19) on the same day before wrapping up the tournament against Mercer (16-12) one day later on August 27.
The Bulldogs will then travel to Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Tournament finalist UT-Martin (15-17) for the Skyhawk Invitational on September 2 and also take on Sun Belt Conference (SBC) finalist Arkansas State (15-14). The next day on September 3 AAMU will face off against Western Illinois (5-24) and SEC member Auburn (13-15).
A few days later Alabama A&M will head to Montgomery, Alabama for the ISTAP HBCU Challenge to first take on Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) semifinalist Coppin State (16-12). They would next face Delaware State (26-5) on September 9 before wrapping up the tournament against South Carolina State (0-24) on September 10.
The Bulldogs will then return to the Rocket City for their first home match of the season against USC Upstate (14-16) on September 13 before heading to the SIU Saluki Bash. They will then take on host Southern Illinois (5-26) and Bellarmine (6-22) on September 16 before capping the tournament against one of their toughest opponents. That will come in the form of OVC Tournament Champion and NCAA First Round qualifiers Southeast Missouri (26-8) on September 17.
A few days later AAMU will head to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to take on C-USA Tournament Semifinalist Middle Tennessee State. Later that week the Bulldogs will enter into Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play and take on SWAC finalist Jackson State (17-14) on September 25 and will return to the court the following day to face off against Mississippi Valley State (2-21).
AAMU will return home to face Bethune-Cookman (6-21) on October 2 before taking on SWAC Champions Florida A&M (25-7) on October 3. Staying home A&M will face Prairie View (8-26) on October 9 and Grambling (11-17) a few hours later before taking on SWAC semifinalist Arkansas-Pine Bluff (18-16) on October 10.
The Bulldogs will then head to SoCon member Chattanooga (11-19) on October 16. The Mocs efforts led them to the SoCon Championships First Round. A few days later on October 20, A&M will travel to rival and SWAC Tournament semi finalist Alabama State (16-17).
Four days later the Bulldogs will host JSU on October 23 and MVSU the following day on October 24 before taking on Alcorn State (4-24) on October 30 and Southern (8-15) a few hours later. The follow morning on October 31 they will tackle Texas Southern (7-24) and head to B-CU on November 6 before traveling to FAMU on November 7.
The Bulldogs will eventually play in their hometown of Huntsville, Alabama as they face off against Alabama State again on November 11 to end their regular season.
Following that slate, the top eight teams will then head to the 2022 SWAC Tournament that is scheduled for November 18-20 at Texas Southern. From there the SWAC Champion will then earn a spot in the 2021 NCAA Tournament as the league's automatic qualifier.
