HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For the second straight game, Alabama A&M (1-1, 0-0 SWAC) takes on an in-state foe as they host Jacksonville State (0-2, 0-0 ASUN) in the second game of a three-game homestand on Friday, August 26. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. at Bulldog Field.
The Bulldogs come in off of a defensive masterpiece that saw freshman defender
K'la Barnes-Blackwood (Margate, Fla.) deliver the game-winner in a 1-0 decision over Troy (8/22) in the 79
th minute. Meanwhile, JSU is still looking for not only their first win but first goal of the season following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Samford (8/18) and 4-0 loss to South Alabama (8/21).
After not having played since 2013, the clubs will meet in back-to-back years following the Gamecocks' 4-1 victory in Jacksonville, Alabama on August 29, 2021. JSU holds a 5-1 series lead with four of their five wins coming by shutout. Previously they earned a 4-0 victory on September 6, 2013, 5-0 decision on August 26, 2012 and 7-0 on September 9, 2009. A&M's lone victory came by a 4-2 score in Jacksonville on October 17, 2008 five years after the first meeting, a 2-0 loss on September 21, 2003 in Mobile, Alabama.
