BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior guard
Garrett Hicks (Madison, Ala.) has earned his second Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly award after his performance over the past week, earning him the SWAC Men's Basketball Impact Player of the Week honor as announced by the league office on Thursday, January 5.

Hicks was a significant contributor for Alabama A&M this past week of league play, averaging 21.0 points per game while shooting 60 percent from the field and 71 percent from beyond the arc. He also contributed 2.5 assists per game, 4.5 rebounds per game along with 3.0 steals per game while helping lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 start in conference play.  Â

More specifically, the senior went 8-for-13 from the field including 3-for-4 from deep in the win against the Golden Lions (Jan. 2) in 38 minutes, while also recording seven rebounds, four assists and four steals on the night. Against the Delta Devils, he totaled a game-high 23 points, two rebounds, and two steals on the day, including going 7-for-10 from three for a combined 10 threes over the two SWAC games.

Hicks and Alabama A&M will return to action with a road matchup on Saturday, January 7, for their third straight SWAC contest as they take on Alcorn State. Game time for the second leg of the doubleheader inside the Davey L. Whitney Complex is set for 4 p.m.
