AAMU Chosen Seventh in SWAC Predicted Order of Finish

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball program was chosen seventh in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) predicted order of finish, which was announced on Wednesday. 

Alabama A&M, which went 15-18 overall last season and 10-8 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, advanced to the conference tournament semifinals. The Bulldogs defeated Southern, 77-63 in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual tourney champions Texas Southern, 74-61, in the semifinals. 

The Bulldogs garnered one first-place vote and registered 140 points to claim the seventh spot. Texas Southern, the defending tournament champions, received 10 first-place votes and 240 points and is predicted to win the conference. 

Grambling State, with 233 points, was chosen second, followed by Alcorn State (214), Jackson State (213), Southern (153) and Prairie View A&M (151).  

Alabama State was selected eighth with 121 points, while Bethune-Cookman (107), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (105), Florida A&M (97) and Mississippi Valley State (30) rounded out the 12-team field. 

Alabama A&M opens the season on Nov. 6 against Oakwood, with a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Event Center.
