BIRMINGHAM, Ala. __Â The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has tabbed Alabama A&M's sophomore guard
Amiah Simmons (Osawatomie, Kan.) for as the women's basketball Impact Player of the Week for her performances during this past week of conference play.
 Â
Simmons turned in two impressive games this past week for the Bulldogs with a game-high 25 points and a career-high 18 rebounds during a AAMU's win over Mississippi Valley State. She followed that effort with 17 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday. She narrowly missed averaging a double-double for the week as she averaged 21 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest.
This is the first weekly award for Simmons in her A&M career, where she is currently boasting averages of 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds on the year after transferring from Biola University during the offseason.
