BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Day two of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Track Championships held at the Birmingham CrossPlex ended with the women's team finishing seventh, while the men finished tenth in the final standings.
Several student-athletes earned top ten individual finishes, including
Victoya Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) with a third-place finish in the 60-meter run with a time of 7.56, followed by a time of 24.88 seconds in the 200-meter, good for eighth.
Both
Laila Gaynor (Baltimore, Md.) and
Olivia Andrews (Charlotte, N.C.) both finished in the top ten in the 400, with Gaynor running a 57.58 (8th) and Andrews at 57.75 (9th).
Shakiera Woods (Atlanta, Ga.) also placed in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.93 seconds for an eighth-place finish.
On the men's side,
Talil Atkins (Baltimore, Md.) earned a fifth-place finish in the 400, running 48.30 to earn four points, while
Brandon McLaren (Hanover, Jamaica) finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (8.35s), followed by
Joshua Graham (Mobile, Ala.) at 17 with a time of 9.17
Alabama A&M will now prepare for outdoor season going forward, the second under Head Coach
Andrew Murphy.
