KNOXVILLE, Tenn. __ Coming of a season-opening sweep over Alcorn State last weekend, the Alabama A&M baseball program will take part in mid-week action with a pair of games against Southeastern Conference opponent Tennessee, both to be aired on SEC Network+.
 
The Bulldogs had a hot start to the third year under head coach 
Elliott Jones, outscoring Alcorn State 27-12 over the three games in the series. They hit for an average of .298 over the series, compared to .284 from the Braves, while earning 29 total hits and a pair of homers from the plate.
 
The Vols (1-2, 0-0 SEC) are currently ranked third in the national polls and start a 15-game homestand with the meeting on Tuesday. They have been extremely strong against non-conference competition since 2019, holding a 95-19 record in the span, including a 53-10 mark over the last two years.
 
The two teams have met on two separate occasions in series history, with Tennessee holding a 2-0 lead with both games being held in Knoxville. In their last meeting on May 3 of last season, the Vols took a 14-1 win.
