HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M baseball will return home this weekend to resume conference play with a three-game series against rival Alabama State.
Â
The two programs will meet on Friday starting at 1 p.m., before they continue the series on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bulldog Baseball Field.
A&M (10-12, 2-4) will be looking to get back in the win column after dropping three games last weekend on the road against Florida A&M. The Hornets enter play at 15-11 overall and 4-2 in SWAC play. When last seen, they dropped a midweek non-conference battle to Troy, 13-10, to end a four-game win streak.
Â
ASU has dominated the series in recent history, as the Bulldogs took the previous meeting 10-7 in Huntsville last season to end a stretch of 10 straight losses dating back to 2021. Friday will be the first meeting between teams this season, as A&M will travel to Montgomery for another three-game swing in May.
Â
Tommy Easley and
Jalen Parker lead the Bulldogs offensively from the plate, with Easley holding a team-high .342 batting average, followed by Parker at .302. Easley, a senior from Acworth, Georgia, also leads the program in hits (26), runs (19), and RBI (19). Meanwhile, a pair of pitchers have multiple wins so far on the year, with
Evan Crenshaw holding a 2-2 record in six appearances, followed by
Noah Whitted who is 2-1, also in six appearances.
Â
The Hornets, last year's SWAC Tournament Champions, are leading the SWAC in both team batting average at .307 and combined team ERA at 5.14. Individually, Randy Flores leads five plus-.300 batters with a .394 average, while both Omar Melendez (4-0) and Ricardo Rivera (4-0) have current ERAs of 1.46 and 1.67 respectively.
