Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. __ In the second contest of a three-game series, Alabama A&M baseball dropped a Saturday afternoon matchup to Florida A&M 16-7 at the Bulldog Baseball Field.
Florida A&M jumped out early in game two with the first run on just two at-bats after a triple to right field to open the contest.
Errors were costly for the Bulldogs in the second, as four miscues along with two hits allowed five Rattler runs for the 6-0 edge heading into the third. Florida A&M added another in the fifth on a sacrifice fly to go up 7-0 before forcing a groundout to close the inning.
Alabama A&M found their offense in the bottom half of the frame, as Kenny Glover subbed in and singled up the middle before advancing with a walk on the next at-bat. Myles Jackson followed with an RBI single to left, driving home Glover for the first run. Tommy Easley and Chevalier Dorris both drove in a pair runs of runs on a single and double respectively, while Dorris score on a passed ball to pull within a run at 7-6.
Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were unable to continue building off that inning of work and Florida A&M added nine more runs in the final four innings, four of them in the sixth and five in the eighth. Alabama A&M scored their last run on a bases loaded walk drawn by Blake Martin in the bottom of the sixth.
The Bulldogs earned nine three hits on the day, while the Rattlers notched 14 hits in their plate appearances. Myles Jackson led the home team at the plate, going 3-for-5 along with scoring two runs and driving in one runner. Martin also earned multiple hits, going 2-for-4 and a walk to bring home a run.
Jason Marono (1-2) started the game on the mound for Alabama A&M, allowing just two earned runs and forcing five flyouts and five groundouts in five innings of work. The trio of Dylan Hernandez, Jackson Hall, and Jason Garcia all combined to pitch the remaining four innings out of the bullpen.
