PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — The Alabama A&M track and field teams concluded competition at the SWAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday, held at the PVAMU Track Stadium over the past three days, with three medal winners on the weekend.
A&M women's program capped the championship meet finishing eighth in the team standings with 52.33 points, while the men's team closed out the three-day meet with 18 points, placing 10th in the final standings.
In the final tally, 13 student-athletes scored points for the Maroon and White, including SWAC men's javelin champion
Brandon McLaren on opening day. McLaren's title on Thursday was the lone win by the Bulldogs during the three-day meet, and the second straight year he took home the top spot in event in the conference postseason meet.
Aneisha Ingram was another medal winner for A&M on the weekend, taking home bronze in the 1500-meter event. The senior's time of 4:44.76 seconds was good for six points on the day, while also adding another two points for her performance in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.15.
Victoya Smith also provided multiple points for the Bulldogs on the weekend with a pair of PRs, finishing fifth in the 100-meter run at 11.74 seconds to secure four points, before a fourth-place finish in the 200 at 23.98 for five points.
Meanwhile,
Shakiera Woods earned a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 14.01, good for four points, followed later by teammates personal bests from
Laila Gaynor (55.17) and
Olivia Andrews (56.01) in the 400-meter run, adding nine points collectively.
Taylor Wingo also made her presence felt in the distance events, collecting five total points in the 1500 and 5000-meter runs with a eighth-place finish (5:06.95) in the 1500 and a fifth-place finish (20:26.95) in the 5000.
Isaiah McCaulley and
Ezekiel Salama also provided points on the men's side, with McCaulley earning six with a bronze finish in the hammer throw with a personal best of 51.68 meters. He was followed in the event by Salama, who also hit a PR at 42.36 meters.
To cap the weekend, the Bulldogs women 4x400-meter relay team of Andrews, Gaynor,
Kendyl Hawkins, and Smith came in seventh at 3:53.38.
