ST. CHARLES, Mo. | The Alabama A&M women's basketball team is set to take on the Lindenwood University Lions on Saturday, December 4 at the Robert F. Hyland Arena. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. with live streaming available on ESPN+.
AAMU continues its eight-game road stretch after going 1-1 during the San Diego Thanksgiving Classic, where they dropped a heartbreaking 56-54 battle to Utah Valley, but recovered in the contest against the host team, sailing to a 78-67 victory. Senior Kalia Walker paced the Bulldogs over the weekend, scoring 38 points and adding four assists and three steals. She went 14-18 from the line and 50 percent from behind the arc in the win over San Deigo. Senior Lauryn Pendleton added 31 points of her own and tallied five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Pendleton went 100% from the line across both contests. Walker earned Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Impact Player of the Week and Pendleton earned SWAC Newcomer of the Week for their performances.
The Lions look to snap a two-game losing streak, after falling 99-79 to Oral Roberts and dropping a ranked matchup against then No.25 Nebraska, 69-48. LU is paced by Ellie Brueggermann, who averages 12.4 points per game. Defensively, Brooke Caffey averages 6 blocks per game, and Mykayla Cunningham leads the team with 11 steals through the first six games of the season
Saturday's game will be the first time the Bulldogs and the Lions will meet on the hardwood, and the first time Lindenwood has played a SWAC team. AAMU is 6-8 against Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) opponents, in which Lindenwood competes.
