MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's tennis team opened Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on Monday with a 4-1 setback versus Southern at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
Alabama A&M (0-4 overall, 0-1 SWAC) dropped the doubles point as Southern picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
The team of Ariadna Onod Cerezo and
Ntokozo Zungu defeated Paris Washington and Kai Wince, 6-4.
In singles action, the Jaguars got a win at No. 3, pushing the lead to 2-0, before Alabama A&M pulled to within one at No. 5 as
Sofia Sotelo Raya knocked off Oliva Jenkins, 6-2, 6-3. However, Southern sealed the victory with wins at No. 4 and No. 6.
