BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Briana Cox continues to rewrite the school record books as she won the weight throw as the Alabama A&M University men's and women's track and field teams competed during Day 1 of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Cox has rewritten her own record numerous times this winter and Saturday was no exception, breaking the mark she previously set at 17.92m and won the weight throw, with a toss of 18.20m.
Not only did Cox break her own school record, but
Sanyae Gibson also set a new school record in the 3000m. She broke teammate
Taylor Wingo's mark of 11:33.84 and finished seventh in 11:06.64.

- In the 60m prelims, Victoya Smith finished fifth and qualified for the finals in 7.60
- Smith set a season-best 24.77 and qualified seventh in the 200m prelims
- Laila Gaynor placed ninth in the 400m prelims, with a time of 57.46
- In the distance medley relay, the Bulldogs finished third, logging a time of 12:48.65
WOMEN'S FIELD EVENTS
- Niasija Wright had a personal-best toss of 15.73m in the weight throw
- Miahna Harden claimed fourth in the long jump, with a leap of 5.73m

- Eric Brannon qualified first in the 1 mile prelims, with a time of 4:33.94
- Eric Barker qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles with a personal best of 8.35
- In the 400m prelims, Talil Atkins placed 10th at 49.08
- In the distance medley relay, AAMU placed fifth, registering a time of 11:06.09
MEN'S FIELD EVENTS
- In the long jump, Joshua Graham placed sixth at 7.14m
- Bruce Davis recorded a fifth-place finish in the shot put, with a toss of 14.26m
- Andrew Reaves set a personal record in the pole vault at 3.65m
