Cox wins Weight Throw, Sets School Record

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Briana Cox continues to rewrite the school record books as she won the weight throw as the Alabama A&M University men's and women's track and field teams competed during Day 1 of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Cox has rewritten her own record numerous times this winter and Saturday was no exception, breaking the mark she previously set at 17.92m and won the weight throw, with a toss of 18.20m.

Not only did Cox break her own school record, but Sanyae Gibson also set a new school record in the 3000m. She broke teammate Taylor Wingo's mark of 11:33.84 and finished seventh in 11:06.64.
