HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Dre Amaral drove in three and scored a run as the Alabama A&M University baseball team dropped the second game of its series with Butler, 19-6, in seven innings on Saturday at Bulldog Field.
Alabama A&M (1-5) fell behind 18-0 through the middle of the sixth inning before erupting for four runs. Butler (2-2) plated six runs in the opening inning and didn't look back.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Butler jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first on four hits and took advantage of a pair of errors.
Butler added to the lead with two more runs in the second and six in the third for a 14-0 lead after three innings.
A four-run sixth helped Butler extend its lead to 18-0, but Alabama A&M answered in the both of the frame as Amaral delivered a bases-loaded double, closing the gap to 18-4.
However, Butler added a run in the seventh and AAMU plated two runs in the seven-inning loss.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with six runs on eight hits, committed seven errors and stranded seven on base
- Miles Jackson, Tristan Curless and Dre Amaral each collected two hits
- Anthony Mateo (0-1) took the loss, surrendering 14 runs (five earned) on 10 hits, with two strikeouts and one walk in 3.0 innings
- Ryan Jones and Brett Parker pitched in relief
- Butler finished with 19 runs on 14 hits and left seven on base
- Joey Urban led Butler at the plate, going 3-for-6, with four runs driven in and three runs scored
- Tyler Banks (1-1) earned the win as he fanned two and gave up a pair of hits in four innings
