MURFREESBORO, Tenn. | Ariadna Ondo Cerezo won a three-set thriller at the No. 4 singles position, but it wasn't enough as the Alabama A&M University women's tennis team fell, 6-1, to Middle Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon at the Adams Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders (4-3) grabbed the doubles point and took a 1-0 lead after victories at No. 2 and No. 3. The team of Ondo Cerezo and
Ntokozo Zungu led Rutuja Chaphalkar and Cassidy Mataia, 5-2, when the third doubles match finished, giving MTSU the point.
Middle Tennessee sealed the victory with wins at No. 3, No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Alabama A&M (0-2) picked up a win at No. 4 as Ondo Cerezo defeated Lilly-Sophie Schmidt in a three-set thriller, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
At No. 5,
Camila Ruiz Diaz dropped a heartbreaking three-set affair to Eloise Swarbrick, 6-3, 3-6, 13-11, and
Sofia Sotelo Raya fell Chaphalker, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
