MONROE, La. | The Alabama A&M University baseball team could not recover from a big first inning by Louisiana-Monroe (ULM) on Sunday afternoon as the Bulldogs concluded the three-game series with a 12-1 loss to the Warhawks at Lou St. Amant Field.
ULM (11-5) exploded for 11 runs on eight hits in the bottom of the first inning for an 11-0 lead.
The Warhawks added one more run in the third to put the game away.
Alabama A&M (2-13) got a run in the top of the seventh.
Dre Amaral opened the frame with a walk, but was out at second when
Jesus Riera reached on a fielder's choice. With two down,
Alex Diaz plated Riera with a single to right, closing the gap to 12-1.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with one run on six hits, committed a pair of errors and left seven on base
- Alex Diaz went 2-for-3, with one RBI
- Dustin Hernandez (0-1) took the loss, surrendering 11 runs on seven hits, with three walks in 0.2 innings of work
- Ryan Jones, Jose Valerio, Austin McCready and Charlie Lazo pitched in relief
- ULM finished with finished with 12 runs on 10 hits, had one error and stranded seven on base
- Justin Robinson (2-0) worked one inning, striking out two and walking one to pick up the victory
- Cam Barlow, Davis Oswalt, Brandt Corley, Dalton Hitt, Aidan Haynes, Zach Shaw, Holden Hess and Zach Brink worked in relief
