HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University softball team could not recover from a three-run first inning as the Bulldogs dropped the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series finale to Florida A&M, 7-0, on Sunday morning at Bulldog Field.
Alabama A&M (4-11 overall, 0-3 SWAC) could not get much going offensively against FAMU pitcher Samantha Smith as the Bulldogs recorded four hits.
Florida A&M (7-13, 3-0) plated three runs in the first inning and added two runs in the sixth and seventh innings for the 7-0 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with four hits, one error and left six on base
- Katie Puckett, Faith Cross, Dakota Daniel and Allyson Riches each collected hits
- Paige Scott (1-4) took the loss, surrendering three runs on four hits in 0.1 innings of work
- Cris'Deona Beasley worked the final 6.2 innings in relief
- Florida A&M finished with seven runs on 13 hits and stranded 11 on base
- At the plate, Smith went 3-for-4, with one run scored and one RBI
- Smith (4-6) picked up the complete-game winning, fanning nine and walking two in seven innings
