MARTIN, Tenn. | Miles Jackson went 2-for-4, with one RBI as the Alabama A&M University baseball team dropped a 14-3 decision in seven innings to UT-Martin on Tuesday night at the Skyhawk Baseball Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (2-17) struck for one run in the top of the first inning.
Alex Diaz walked and
Dre Amaral was hit by a pitch. With two outs, Jackson delivered the big hit, a single to right center as Diaz came around to score, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
AAMU doubled the advantage in the third as Amaral opened the frame with a solo homer to right, extending the lead to 2-0.
UT-Martin (7-14) grabbed a 5-2 advantage by scoring five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Alabama A&M loaded the bases in the top of the sixth but came away empty-handed and the Skyhawks took advantage in the bottom of the frame, plating two runs on four hits, and capitalized off an error to extend the lead to 7-2.
The Bulldogs got a run back in the top of the seventh.
Diaz opened the frame with a double down the line in left and moved to third on a ground out.
Tristan Curless brought Diaz home on a sacrifice fly to left as Alabama A&M closed the gap to 7-3.
The Skyhawks put the game away in the bottom of the inning with seven runs on five hits, took advantage of an error, to capture the 14-3 win.

- Alabama A&M finished with three runs on six hits, committed three errors and stranded eight on base
- Miles Jackson went 2-for-4, with one RBI to pace AAMU
- Tristan Curless earned the start, fanning two, walking one and scattering just one hit in two innings

- UT Martin finished with 14 runs on 14 hits and left eight on base
- Will Smith went 3-for-5, with four runs driven in and two runs scored
- Mac Danford went 2-for-4, with three RBI and one run scored
- Choyce Diffey (2-2) picked up the win, giving up two runs on four hits, with four walks and two strikeouts in 5.2 innings
- Rett Edwards and Baylor Jones saw action out of the bullpent

Alabama A&M returns to Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on Friday as the Bulldogs begin a three-game series with rival Alabama State. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. from the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
