Alabama A&M Drops Series Finale to Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The Alabama A&M University baseball team got a three-run homer by Jesus Riera in the first inning, but it wasn't enough as Bethune-Cookman completed the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series sweep on Saturday, 10-6, at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (3-23 overall, 1-8 SWAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Dre Amaral opened the frame with a double down the line in left and after a walk to Brycen Hammonds, Tristan Curless singled to right, plating Amaral. With one down, Jesus Riera homered to left, giving the Bulldogs a big first inning.

Bethune-Cookman (15-11, 7-1) got a run back in the bottom of the first and grabbed a 5-4 advantage with four runs in the second inning.

The Bulldogs tied the game at 5 with a run in the fourth as Blake Martin singled to begin the inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly to center by Christian Soto.

However, the Wildcats used a three-run bottom of the fourth to take an 8-5 advantage.

Bethune-Cookman extended its lead to 10-5 with a pair of runs in the fifth.

Alabama A&M got a run back in the eighth as Angel Rivera doubled with two outs and scored a Riera singled to left as the Bulldogs trailed 10-6.
