MONROE, La. | The Alabama A&M University baseball team could not recover from a huge fifth inning by ULM as the Bulldogs fell, 18-1 in seven innings, to Louisiana-Monroe (ULM) on Saturday afternoon at Lou St. Amant Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (2-12) jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the top half of the first inning.
Alex Diaz opened the frame with a base hit to left and moved to second on a wild pitch. A ground out by
Chevalier Dorris advanced Diaz to third and scored on a single to center by
Tristan Curless.
ULM (10-5) tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning and grabbed a 4-1 advantage with three runs in the fourth.
The Warhawks exploded for 14 runs on eight hits in the bottom of the fifth and put the game out of reach at 18-1.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with one run on three hits, committed three errors and left five on base
- Jackson Hall took the loss, giving up four runs (two earned) on three hits, with one strikeout and one walk
- Evan Hurlburt and Brett Parker pitched in relief
- ULM finished with 18 runs on 11 hits, committed two errors and stranded three on base
- Beau Blanchard pitched three innings for the Warhawks, surrendering one earned run on three hits, with a pair of strikeouts
- Parker Seay, Trey Lindsay and Carson Orton worked in relief
