BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University senior thrower
Briana Cox was selected the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Cox, who is already the school record holder in the hammer throw, broke her own mark, previously set at the Alumni Bulldog Relays with a mark of 50.24m. Last Saturday at the Tennessee Invite, Cox threw a toss of 52.83m to rewrite the record books as she placed second in the event.
Southern's Camille Lewis was named the SWAC's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Alabama A&M returns to action on Friday and Saturday at the Doc Anderson Invitational, hosted by Troy, at the Troy Soccer Complex.
