HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's tennis team concluded its regular season on Friday with a thrilling, 4-3, victory over Tennessee State at the AAMU Tennis Courts.
Alabama A&M (6-14) won the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
The team of
Alicia Owegi and
Ntokozo Zungu defeated Louise Ratiu and Jovana Nikolic, 6-3, at No. 2, while
Hannah Nagpall and
Sofia Sotelo Raya bested Perri Howard and Natalie Walsh, 6-0, at No. 3.
In singles play, Tennessee State (4-18) earned wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6, but the Bulldogs won the match with victories at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5.
At No. 2, Zungu defeated Ratiu, 6-1, 6-1, while
Gabrielle Henderson outlasted Francisca Gomez-Weis, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, at No. 4. Nagpall beat Howard, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 5 as Alabama A&M won the thriller, 4-3.
