DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The Alabama A&M University softball team concluded its three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series on Saturday morning with a 5-1 loss to Bethune-Cookman and Sunnyland Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bethune-Cookman (14-24 overall, 12-6 SWAC) loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning and came away with a pair of runs to grab a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats pushed across one run in the third and added two more in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-0 advantage.
Alabama A&M (7-22, 3-14) tried to rally in the seventh as Kaidence Swoops singled to center to begin the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After a ground out moved Swoops to third, she scored on an
Allyson Riches double to center as the Bulldogs trimmed the deficit to 5-1.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with one run on seven hits, committed a pair of errors and stranded eight on base
- Dakota Daniel went 2-for-4
- Sydney Hall (0-7) took the loss, surrendering five runs (three earned) on eight hits, with three walks and two strikeouts
- Bethune-Cookman finished with five runs on eight hits, had one error and left six on base
- Thais Uyema went 3-for-3, with one run scored
- Jessica Alaan went 2-for-3, with two runs scored and one RBI
- Halyne Gonzalez (9-12) earned her second win of the weekend, giving up one hit, scattering seven hits, fanning two and walk two in seven innings

Alabama A&M returns to action with a mid-week doubleheader on Wednesday at Oakwood. First pitch against the Ambassadors is scheduled for 12 p.m.
