HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University softball team used a two-run fifth inning to halt a three-game losing streak and defeat Jackson State, 2-0, in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game on Friday at the Bulldog Softball Field.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
After scoreless innings, Jackson State (25-14 overall, 12-6 SWAC) loaded the bases in the top of the fifth, but a fly out to right by Jace Jackson ended the scoring threat and Alabama A&M (8-22, 4-14) capitalized in the bottom of the inning.
Â
Allyson Riches opened the frame with a base hit to right and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Madison Murray.
Faith Cross delivered the big hit, a double to the gap in right, scoring Riches.
Zahria Jones followed and grounded out to third as Cross scored on an error, giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage.
Â
That would be all the runs Alabama A&M would need in the 2-0 victory.
