Bulldogs Rally with Walk-Off in Ninth Inning

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University baseball team scored the final six runs of the game, including a walk-off double by Brycen Hammonds, as the Bulldogs rallied for a 14-13 win over Tuskegee on Tuesday from the Bulldog Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (9-30) struck for two runs in the first inning and added a run in the second for a quick 3-0 lead.

Tuskegee (8-32) slowly chipped away at the deficit, plating one run in the third and fourth innings as the Golden Tigers trailed 5-2 entering the fifth inning.

A three-run fifth inning for Tuskegee tied the game at 5 but Alabama A&M answered with three runs on two hits to take an 8-5 advantage.

With one down in the inning, Miles Jackson and Mekhi Lloyd drew back-to-back walks. Jackson scored on a Jared Tribett double. Chevalier Dorris brought in Lloyd and Tribett with a single to right center.

The Golden Tigers refused to go away quietly, scoring three runs in the sixth and seventh innings, along with two more in the top of the eighth for a 13-8 lead.

However, Alabama A&M responded with a four-run eighth, closing the deficit to 13-12.

Dorris began the frame with a double down the line in right and advanced to third on a passed ball. Hammond brought Dorris across on a single to left center. Hammonds stole second and scored on a Tristan Curless double. Curless stolen third and scored on wild pitch. With two outs, Jesus Riera launched a solo shot to left as AAMU pulled to within one run.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth off Mikelle Mason with no outs. After Dre Amaral reached on a fielder's choice, Hammond smacked a double down the line in left as Tribett and Dorris scored, giving Alabama A&M the walk-off victory.
