NASHVILLE, Tenn. | Justin Walker broke the school record in the long jump as the Alabama A&M University men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Music City Challenge during the opening day on Friday at the Vanderbilt Outdoor Track.
Walker, who on the event, faulted on his first attempt but made up for it on his second with a school-record 7.53m, which broke Anselm James's mark of 7.49m from 1994.
Walker also had plenty of company at the top as teammate
Brandon McLaren, who finished second, nearly surpassed him in the fourth attempt at 7.52m.

- Miahna Harden placed fifth in the long jump invite, logging a jump of 5.64m
MEN'S TRACK EVENTS
- In the 200m, Justin Walker placed ninth, with a time of 21.44
- Eric Brannon finished seventh in the 1,500m D Flight, with a time of 4:09.24
