BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University outside hitter Rayishon Jackson was selected the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
 
Jackman finished with 28 kills, 17 digs, one block assist and one service ace in games against Memphis and Alabama State. She averaged 3.50 kills and 2.13 digs per set. In addition, she posted a double-double of 21 kills and 17 digs in a five-set match against Alabama State.
 
Jackson State's Jayden James was named the SWAC's Offensive Player of the Week, while Florida A&M's Victoria Santana and JSU's Kamiera Watkins shared co-Defensive Player of the Week honors. FAMU's Makenzie Taylor earned the SWAC Setter of the Week award.
 
Alabama A&M (14-6 overall, 5-2 SWAC) returns to action on Wednesday when the Bulldogs play host to rival Alabama State. First serve is set for 6 p.m. from T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.
