THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak on Monday afternoon, defeating Texas Southern, 3-1, in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match at T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.
Alabama A&M took the opening set, 25-23, but Texas Southern answered in the second with a 25-21 win. Back came the Bulldogs, sealing the match with scores of 25-23 and 25-20.
Alabama A&M (15-8 overall, 6-4 SWAC) finished with 53 kills, 61 digs, 49 assists, 10.0 total team blocks and seven service aces.
Rayishon Jackman posted a double-double of 15 digs and 13 kills to pace the Bulldog offense.
Nisaan Martinez registered 12 kills and four digs, while
Briana Smith and
Kaydee Smith posted 25 and 21 assists, respectively.
Kelani Talakai led the defense with a match-high 22 digs.
Texas Southern (7-16, 6-4) finished with 55 kills, 72 digs, 52 assists, 7.0 total team blocks and four service aces.
Lauren Battle led the Tigers with a double-double of 15 digs and 10 kills, while Kourtni Collier added 25 assists and 14 digs. Kennedi Walker tallied 23 assists and Lauanna Pino Watanabe recorded 15 digs.
