Alabama A&M Second in Preseason Predicted Order of Finish

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team received five first-place votes and was chosen second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Preseason Poll, the conference announced at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Tuesday morning during the league's Media Day.
 
The Alabama A&M women's basketball program is coming off a historic season that saw the Bulldogs win 21 games for the first time during the Division I era. The Bulldogs picked up 224 points to claim the second spot as Southern, with 265 points and 14 first-place votes, was selected to win the conference.
 
Jackson State, with one first-place vote and 213 points, was third, followed by Texas Southern (202 points), Grambling State (186 points), Alcorn State (164 points), Bethune-Cookman (119 points), Florida A&M (111 points), Alabama State (98 points), Prairie View A&M (93 points), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (63 points) and Mississippi Valley State (56 points).
 
Alabama A&M begins the season with an exhibition game, playing host to UAH in the return of the Mayor's Cup. The regular tips off with back-to-back home games, starting on Nov. 5 against Talladega. For the second consecutive season, AAMU will welcome an SEC opponent to the Event Center as Ole Miss comes to The Hill on Nov. 7.
