Jackman’s Double-Double Leads AAMU to Senior Night Win

THE HILL | Rayishon Jackman posted a double-double in kills and digs as the Alabama A&M University volleyball team closed out its home campaign with a 3-1 Senior Night victory over Mississippi Valley State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match on Monday at T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.
 
Alabama A&M, hitting .652 in the first set, jumped out to a big lead and didn't let up in a 25-12 win. The Bulldogs cooled off a bit in the second, hitting .273 and took a 2-0 lead in the match with the 25-19 victory. Mississippi Valley State grabbed the third set, 25-21, before the Bulldogs closed out the match in the fourth with a 25-10 victory.
 
Alabama A&M (17-10 overall, 8-6 SWAC) finished with 53 kills, 51 assists, 49 digs, 8.0 total team blocks and seven service aces.
 
Jackman hit .351 for the night, registered 19 kills, 12 digs and a pair of service aces to pace the Bulldog offense. Fatima Ramirez, who hit .452, recorded 15 kills and five digs. Briana Smith and Kaydee Smith dished out 29 and 18 assists, respectively, while Kelani Talaki posted a match-high 16 digs.
 
Mississippi Valley State (4-18, 1-13) finished with 33 kills, 41 digs, 32 assists, 5.0 total team blocks and four service aces.
 
Alaya Rhodes led the Devilettes with nine kills and nine digs. Leticia Franco tallied 18 assists, while Brooklyn Brunt chipped in eight digs.
 
After the conclusion of Monday's game, Alabama A&M recognized seven seniors – Kemora Coachman, Sana Dennis, Samaurya Mahone, Fatima Ramirez, Keyara Scott Johnson, Caitlin Shaw and Saniya Spalding for their outstanding contributions to the volleyball program.
