LORMAN, Miss. | The Alabama A&M University volleyball team opened its two-match road swing on Friday night with a 3-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory over Alcorn State at the Davey L. Whitney Complex
Alabama A&M won the opening set, 25-9, by hitting .393 and grabbed the second set, 25-12. The Bulldogs closed out the match in the third with a 25-21 victory.
Alabama A&M (18-10 overall, 9-6 SWAC) finished with 41 kills, 41 digs, 37 assists, 10 service aces and 5.0 total team blocks.
Rayishon Jackman, the SWAC's Newcomer of the Week, led AAMU with a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs.
Fatima Ramirez added seven kills.
Briana Smith and
Kaydee Smith dished out 18 and 13 assists, respectively and
Kelani Talakai added 13 digs.
Alcorn State (3-25, 2-13) finished with 18 kills, 27 digs, 17 assists, 3.0 total team blocks and a pair of service aces.
Rylan Jones and Michaela each registered five kills to pace the Alcorn State offense. Erin Mims handed 15 assists, while Tomoni Giddings posted a team-high nine digs.
