THE HILL | Rayishon Jackman posted 14 kills and added seven digs as the Alabama A&M University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Jackson State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match on Sunday at T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.
Alabama A&M trailed by as many as six points in the opening set before claiming a 25-22 win to grab a 1-0 lead. Jackson State evened the match at 1 with a 25-18 win in the second set and took a 2-1 advantage with a 25-22 victory in the third. The Tigers pulled away in fourth, taking the set, 25-20, to win the match.
Alabama A&M (16-10 overall, 7-6 SWAC) finished with 38 kills, 50 digs, 36 assists, 10.0 total team blocks and five service aces.
Jackman was the lone Bulldog in double figure kills as
Nisaan Martinez added nine.
Briana Smith and
Kaydee Smith recorded 20 and 12 assists, respectively, while
Kelani Talakai posted 16 digs.
Jackson State (12-12, 11-3) finished with 60 kills, 60 digs, 53 assists, 10.0 total team blocks and six service aces.
Jayden James and Kyra Dove led the Tigers offensively with 12 kills each. Karys Dove and Naija Gadis had 25 and 22 assists. Defensively, Giannelle Asomani registered 10 digs.
