HOUSTON, Texas | Five Alabama A&M University baseball student-athletes were selected to the HBCU Cactus Jack Classic All-Tournament Team.
Outfielders
Miles Jackson and
Trey Rutledge were named to the all-tournament team, while
Desmore Joseph,
Brycen Hammonds and
Raymond Clark earned honorable mention honors.
Alabama A&M went 1-2 in the HBCU Cactus Jack Classic, including a thrilling come-from-behind 15-14 victory over the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Tournament Champions, Grambling State, on Sunday.
Rutledge led the Bulldogs offense during the first weekend, batting .444 with four hits. He scored five runs and was 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts. Jackson went 3-for-10, with two RBI and two runs scored. He had a triple and drew three walks.
Joseph batted .266 in 14 plate appearances, with two RBI and one run scored, while Hammonds went 3-for-11, drawing four walks and driving in four. On the mound, Clark appeared in two games, with one win and recorded four strikeouts in 3.1 innings.
Alabama A&M (1-3) returns to action at the 2025 Andre Dawson Classic this weekend in Vero Beach, Fla. The Bulldogs open play at 8 a.m. (central time) against Prairie View A&M on Friday, followed by an 8 a.m. (central) contest on Saturday versus Grambling State. AAMU concludes the weekend at 2 p.m. (central) on Sunday against Florida A&M.
