BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Five Alabama A&M University indoor track and field school records fell on Saturday as the men's and women's teams were in action during day one of the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The men broke three school records, while on the women's side, it was
Ajanae Cressey setting a new mark in the multi-events.
Cressey with a school and personal-best record of 3,410 points in the pentathlon, breaking Sophia Madison's mark of 3,176 points, set in 2020. In the pentathlon, Cressey won the high jump at 1.62m, second in the 60m hurdles (9.12), third in the long jump (5.37m), fourth in the shot put (9.61m) and sixth in the 800m (2:37.76).
Juan Osorio broke his own school record in the 3000m at 9:01.19 (previous was 9:14.27) to finish eighth
Corey Harris set a school record in the pole vault at 4.12m, breaking of 4.01m held previously by DeAnthony Williams, in taking fifth in the event. Teammates
Deon Jones and
Andrew Reaves were seventh and eighth at 3.82m and 3.52m, respectively.
In the shot put,
Bruce Davis broke a school record by finishing third with a throw of 16.08m. He broke the record previously held by Eric Wright at 15.52m.
The final record that fell was the men's distance medley relay as the team of Osorio,
Talil Atkins,
Bravin Kibitok and
Korede Otusajo finished second, with a time of 10:18.29. They broke the previous mark of 10:49.81 set in 2023.
In addition to the records,
Amaya Mitchell-Howard won the women's weight throw, with a toss of 17.06m and
Miahna Harden won the long jump at 5.87m.
Olivier Jean finished third in the men's long jump, recording a leap of 7.33m.
On the women's side through five events, Alabama A&M leads the field with 37 points, followed by Texas Southern (29.5), Florida A&M (29), Alabama State (21), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (21), Prairei View A&M (16), Southern (13.5), Jackson State (12), Alcorn State (9), Bethune-Cookman (6) and Grambling State (1).
On the men's side, Alabama A&M sits in third place after the first day with 28 points, while Texas Southern is first at 51 points, followed by Jackson State (40). Bethune-Cookman is fourth (24), followed by Florida A&M (23), Prairie View A&M (22), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (13), Alabama State (12.5), Southern (8.5), Grambling State (8) and Alcorn State (4) rounding out the field.

- Eric Barker qualified for the 60m hurdles finals with a personal-best time of 8.13 as he finished sixth
- Dohnavon Hunt just missed qualifying for the 60m finals, finishing 10th, with a personal-best time of 6.89
- Bravin Kibitok qualified for the 1 mile finals, running fifth in a time of 4:31.21

Alabama A&M closes out the 2025 SWAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with the multi-events and concludes at 3:20 p.m. with the 4x400m relays.
