THE HILL | In the midweek home series finale against Oakland University, the Alabama A&M University softball team (7-3) sailed past the Golden Grizzlies 11-1 in five innings.
The Bulldogs opened scoring in the bottom of the first frame. With runners on all three bases, Heaven Bibbs walked, allowing Arianna Montiel to score. Akyndra Montalvo was next at bat, where she singled to right center, allowing both Heaven and Charity Bibbs to  score and the Bulldogs to take a 3-0 lead.
At the bottom of the second frame, Dakota Daniel singles to left center before stealing second base. Maria Paula Ocrospoma-Figueroa singled up the middle and Tori Green reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Daniel. After Montiel singled and C.Bibbs walked, Ocrospoma-Figueroa scored to balloon the Bulldog lead to five. The Maroon and White recorded three more runs before the close of the inning to bring the tally to 9-0.
The Golden Grizzlies could not get any momentum at the top of the third, with both Annabel Power and Alyssa striking out. At the bottom of the third, Green scored on a throwing error by the second baseman before Katie Puckett singled up the middle which allowed C.Bibbs to score the 11th run for the Bulldogs.
Oakland University finally managed to get on the board in the fifth inning when Taylor Carraway singled and eventually scored to prevent a shutout, but was not enough, as the Bulldogs claimed the final game of the series 11-1.
UP NEXTÂ
AAMU will head to the Lone Star State for six games. The Bulldogs will play a series against Incarnate Word in San Antonio on February 28 and March 1Â before participating in the Longhorn Invitational. Alabama A&M will take on South Florida, New Mexico State and Southeastern Athletic Conference opponent University of Texas in Austin, Texas.
