Gaynor, Kibitok and Osorio Highlight Big Day for Bulldogs

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Laila Gaynor picked up where she left off last week by winning the 400 meters, while Braven Kibitok and Juan Osorio broke their own school records, highlighting a big day for the Alabama A&M University men's and women's indoor track and field teams on Saturday at the UAB Green & Gold Invite.

Gaynor, the Southwestern Athletic Conference Track Performer of the Week, showed out and showcased her talents for the second consecutive meet. Last weekend at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, the Baltimore, Md. native captured first with a time of 54.62 and finished second in the 200m.

On Saturday, Gaynor continued her outstanding indoor season, running 54.67 to win the 400m, defeating Southern Mississippi's Kennedi Sanders (55.57) and Kameron Scille, of Memphis (55.62).

Gaynor also added to her day by placing seventh in the 200m, clocking a time of 24.46, while teammate Victoya Smith finished ninth in 25.04.

"I've learned to have confidence in my training and the race plan that my coach and I set," Gaynor said. I thank God for health and the ability to continue to run and achieve my goals."

Kibitok was back at it on Saturday, breaking another mark previously held by Hilary Kipchonge. He ran the mile in 4:23.14 to take 11th, but also set the school mark, which was set in 2020.

Another school mark broken by Osorio, the SWAC's Newcomer of the Week, in the 3000m. He broke his own record of 9:18.62, which he set last weekend at the South Alabama Invitational. Osorio finished 15th, logging a personal-best time of 9:14.27.
