Isaac Castro each drove in three as the Alabama A&M University baseball team outlasted Stillman College, 19-17, on Tuesday afternoon at the Bulldog Baseball Field.
Alabama A&M (4-12) scored in every inning on its way to ending a two-game losing streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as
Trey Rutledge, who led off the frame with a double and Duncan, who was hit by a pitch, came across, giving AAMU a quick 2-0 lead.
Stillman (9-10) plated four runs in the second and two more in the third, while Alabama A&M scored two in the second and two in the third as the two teams went into the fourth tied at 6.
After the Tigers scored two runs in the top of the fourth, the Bulldogs responded with six runs in the bottom of the inning.
Rutledge began the inning with a walk and stole second.
Desmore Joseph flied out to right as Rutledge moved to third with two outs.
Charles Morris singled to right, scoring Rutledge.
Dre Amaral advanced Morris to second with a base hit to center.
Christian Soto drew a walk to load the bases. Jackson followed with a base hit through the left side as Morris and Amaral scored. After a pitching change,
Isaac Castro reached on an infield hit as Soto came across to score. Jackson scored on a wild pitch and Castro came in a double-double as Alabama A&M led 12-8.
The Bulldogs added three more in the fifth for a 15-8.
Both teams traded runs in the sixth before the Tigers struck for four runs in the seventh and eighth innings, tying the game at 17.
Alabama A&M broke the tie in bottom of the eighth with a pair of runs.
Duncan opened the frame with a base hit to left and moved to second when
Angel Rivera was hit by a pitch. With one double, Amaral doubled to left as Duncan and Rivera scored, giving the Bulldogs a 19-17 advantage.
Stillman loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth but
Bryce Dolce struck out Mekha Hicks to end the game.

- Edgar Rodriguez, Jordan Nolley and Bryce Dolce (1-1) pitched in relief
- Stillman finished with 17 runs on 14 hits, had two errors and stranded 18 on base
- Jaxon Paxton started for the Tigers and was one of nine pitchers as he surrendered four runs (three earned) on three hits and walked two in 2.0 innings
UP NEXT
Alabama A&M opens Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with a three-game series, beginning on Friday against Grambling State. Friday and Saturday's games from the Bulldog Baseball Field will start at 1 p.m., with the finale set for 12 p.m. on Sunday.
