RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico | The Alabama A&M University men's golf team sits atop the leaderboard after two rounds of Tuesday's play at the Hornet Invitational, hosted by Alabama State, at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.
The top three teams are separated by just six total strokes as Alabama A&M shot an opening-round 301 but led the way during the second round for a 593. Chicago State is right behind, firing a 597, while Texas Southern sits in third at 599. Host Alabama State is fourth (607), while Southern rounds out the five-time field with a 608.
As close as the top of the team leaderboard is, the individual standings are about the same, with 10 players within the top spot, held by Texas Southern's Yashal Syed, who carded 2-under-par 142.
Lukas Lange is right there within striking distance, shooting a 144 and is tied for second with Chicago State's Julian Colavecchia.
Kourey Patterson and
Samuel Boddie are also close to the top, tied for seventh with Alabama State's Jeffery Roberts with a 149.
Niall Bagnall fired a 151 and is tied for 12
th, while Fabian Sanchez is 25
th with a 165.
Alabama A&M will look for its first win of the spring with Wednesday's final round.
