THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University baseball team jumped out to a five-run lead, but Alcorn State stormed back, scoring 21 runs over five innings, defeating the Bulldogs 21-11 in eight innings to close out the three-game series with the Braves on Sunday at the Bulldog Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Alabama A&M (3-12) struck for three runs on one hit and took advantage of two errors to grab a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Trevor Rutledge opened the frame with a walk and advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt. He stole third as
Kylan Duncan drew a base on balls.
Desmore Joseph singled to right, scoring Rutledge as Duncan stopped at third.
Charles Morris reached on an error as Duncan and Joseph scored.

The Bulldogs added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Miles Jackson opened with an infield hit and moved to second on an
AJ Anderson ground out. Rutledge drew a one-out walk and advanced to second when Jackson stole second. Duncan followed with a base hit through the left side as Jackson scored. After a pitching change, Joseph flied out to right as Rutledge scored on the sacrifice fly, giving AAMU a 5-0 lead.

Alcorn State (2-10) plated six runs in the top of fourth to grab a 6-5 advantage, but Alabama A&M answered in the bottom half with a run, tying the game at 6.

The Braves added six runs on three hits in the top of the fifth for a 12-5 lead, but again the Bulldogs responded, this time with four runs on two hits and took advantage of one error, closing the gap to 12-10.

After a scoreless sixth, Alcorn State scored four runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth for a 21-10 lead.

The Bulldogs plated one run in the bottom of the eighth as Alcorn State took two of three from AAMU to win the weekend series.

- Alabama A&M finished with 11 runs on nine hits, committed two errors and stranded 12 on base
- Kylan Duncan went 2-for-5, with three RBI and two runs scored
- Desmore Joseph was 2-for-3, with three RBI and two runs scored

- Trey Adams went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and three runs scored
- Kanious Davis gave up five runs (three earned) on three hits, with three walks and one strikeout in 1.1 innings
- Myles Dews, Edwin Guzman and Payton Baylis saw action out of the bullpen
