BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's basketball team (21-9, 14-4 SWAC) claimed the third seed as they enter the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament this week, the league announced Saturday night. The berth comes after the Bulldogs emerged victorious over top seeded Southern University on Saturday night.
As a top four team, the Maroon and White will see a first-round bye before facing the sixth-seeded Alcorn State Braves on Thursday at 11 a.m. The contest will be live streamed via ESPN+.
Texas Southern claimed the No. 2 seed (14-4 SWAC) while Jackson State (13-5 SWAC) fell just behind AAMU. Grambling State is the No. 5 seed (12-6 SWAC) and Bethune-Cookman (7-11 SWAC) takes the seventh spot behind Alcorn. Florida A&M (6-12 SWAC) will enter the tournament as the No. 8 seed. Mississippi Valley State (6-12 SWAC) and Prairie View A&M (6-12) claimed the final two tournament bids and will enter the tournament as the No. 9 and No. 10 seeds respectively.
The 2025 Starry SWAC Women's Basketball Tournament presented by Buick is scheduled to be played on March 11-15 at Gateway Center Arena located in Atlanta, Ga.The upcoming tournament schedule of games is listed below.
