Elvis Victoriano belted solo homers as the Alabama A&M University baseball team opened its Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series on Friday with an 18-5 loss in seven innings to Bethune-Cookman at the Bulldog Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Bethune-Cookman (18-16 overall, 11-2 SWAC) struck for three runs, highlighted by a solo homer by Andrey Martinez, in the top half of the first inning to grab a 3-0 lead.

Alabama A&M (9-24, 2-11) got a run back in the bottom of the second, courtesy of a solo homer to right by Victoriano as the Bulldogs closed the gap to 3-1.

Back came the Wildcats in the top of the third as Jorge Rodriguez belted a solo shot to right, pushing the advantage to 4-1.

The Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the frame as
Kylan Duncan cleared the bases with a double down the right field line, as
AJ Anderson,
Dre Amaral and
Miles Jackson scored, tying the game at 4.

Bethune-Cookman plated three runs on three hits in the fifth and added nine more runs on seven hits in the sixth for a 16-4 lead.

AAMU got a solo homer in the sixth by Glover, but it wasn't enough as BCU won the series opener, 18-5.

GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with five runs on 10 hits, committed a pair of errors and left three on base
- Trey Rutledge went 2-for-3
- Dre Amaral was 2-for-3, with one run scored
- Elvis Victoriano went 2-for-3, with one RBI and one run scored
- Charles Morris (1-1) took the loss, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits, with three strikeouts in 5.0 innings
- Edgar Rodriguez pitched 2.0 innings in relief
- Bethune-Cookman finished with 18 runs on 21 hits and stranded eight on base
- Andrey Martinez went 3-for-4, with three runs scored and two RBI
- Sergio Rivera was 3-for-4, with two RBI and a pair of runs scored
- Tanner Boccabello (6-1) earned the victory, giving up four runs on seven hits, with three walks and two strikeouts in five innings
- Carlos Roses worked the final two innings in relief
