BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University's Amaya Mitchell-Howard was selected the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.
 
Mitchell-Howard received the honor after winning the hammer throw last weekend at the Crimson Tide Invitational. She registered a season-best time of 54.89m to capture the event.
 
Alabama A&M returns to action on Friday for two days at the Georgia Tech Invitational at the George C. Griffin Track in Atlanta, Ga.
