THE HILL | Raymond Clark pitched five strong innings during Thursday's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series opener as the Alabama A&M University baseball team surrendered two early runs and could not recover in falling to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 3-0, at the Bulldog Baseball Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (17-32 overall, 15-9 SWAC) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, scoring one run in each of the first two innings.
The Golden Lions added to the lead in the sixth with one run, stretching the advantage to 3-0.
Alabama A&M (10-38, 2-25) had an opportunity to cut into the deficit with one out in the bottom of the sixth, but UAPB got the Bulldogs to bounce into an inning-ending double play.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with four hits, three errors and left six on base
- Raymond Clark (2-7) surrendered two runs (one earned) on four hits, waking five and striking out one in five innings
- Evan Hurlburt and Bryce Dolce pitched in relief
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished with three runs on six hits, had one error and stranded 11 on base
- Kenney Fabian (6-6) scattered four hits, fanned six and walked two in the complete-game victory
- Eli Gries-Smith went 2-for-3, with two RBI
