TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Alabama A&M University baseball team took a one-run lead into the bottom of the sixth inning before Florida A&M exploded for six runs in the seventh to take Game 2 of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series, 8-4, on Saturday afternoon at Moore-Kittles Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama A&M (10-34 overall, 2-21 SWAC) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as
Miles Jackson began the game with an infield hit and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Dre Amaral in the top of the first inning.
Florida A&M (23-20, 17-6) tied the game at 1 with one run in the bottom of the fourth.
Back came the Bulldogs in the top of the sixth.
Jackson opened the inning with an infield hit and advanced to second on an error. He moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Isaac Castro and Amaral followed with a base hit to right, scoring Jackson from third, giving AAMU a 2-1 advantage.
The Rattlers answered in the bottom of the frame on a solo homer by William Brown, tying the game at 2.
Florida A&M took advantage of a Bulldog error in the bottom of the seventh, scoring six runs on four hits to blow the game open and grab an 8-2 lead.
The Bulldogs closed the gap to 8-4 in the ninth as Joseph Desmore belted a two-run homer, but it wasn't enough as AAMU dropped the second game of the series.
GAME NOTES
- Alabama A&M finished with four runs on eight hits, had one error and left four on base
- Miles Jackson went 2-for-4, with a pair of runs scored
- Dre Amaral was 2-for-3, with two RBI and one run scored
- Joseph Desmore went 1-for-3, with a pair of RBI and one run scored
- Raymond Clark pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits, with four strikeouts and a pair of walks
- Evan Hurlburt (0-1) and Bryce Dolce pitched in relief
- Florida A&M finished with eight runs on 10 hits, committed one error and stranded six on base
- William Brown went 2-for-2, with two runs scored and one RBI
- Colton Ryals was 2-for-4, with one run scored
- Jordan Brown went 2-for-4, with one RBI and one run scored
- Jesus Campa (2-2) picked up the victory, surrendering two runs (one earned) on six hits, with three strikeouts and one walk in seven innings
- Cody Williams and worked one inning each in relief

Alabama A&M closes out its three-game road trip on Sunday against Florida A&M. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. from Moore-Kittles Field.
