THE HILL | For the third consecutive year, Alabama A&M University Assistant AD for Athletic Communications, Brian Howard, was named the Sports Information Director of the Year by Black College Nines.
 
Howard was recognized for his coverage of the Alabama A&M baseball team by the website, which is dedicated to covering HBCU baseball nationwide. Howard received the honor for the third consecutive year and the second team representing Alabama A&M. In 2023, Howard received the accolade as the Assistant AD for Sports Communications at Norfolk State University.
 
Howard joined AAMU athletics in early October 2023 from Norfolk State. Among his career highlights, his staff was recently named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Sports Information Department of the Year and chosen the chair of the Sports Information Directors for the second time, having previously served in that capacity during the Fall of 2022.
 
In addition, he has been very active as a member of the College Sports Communicators (previously CoSIDA), serving on the Division I Cabinet for the past four years, the Advocacy Committee for the past year and a member of BCSIDA (Black College Sports Information Directors Association). Howard has previously worked in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and three SWAC institutions.
