NEW ORLEANS, La. | The Alabama A&M University volleyball team had four players post double-digit kills as the Bulldogs closed out the Southland Conference/Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Challenge with a 3-1 victory over New Orleans on Saturday night at the Human Performance Center.
Alabama A&M (7-2) rolled to a 25-17 first-set victory, but New Orleans (4-5) answered in the second set, winning 25-22. Back came the Bulldogs in the third, 25-18 and closed out the victory in the fourth with a 25-18 victory.
Alabama A&M finished with 60 kills, 57 assists, 43 digs, nine blocks and eight service aces.
Fatima Ramirez registered a double-double of 17 kills and 10 digs, along with two blocks to pace the offensive attack for the Bulldogs.
Rayishon Jackman recorded 14 kills and seven digs, while
Caitlin Shaw added 11 kills.
Nisaan Martinez also chipped in 10 kills and two blocks.
Kaydee Smith and
Briana Smith dished out 27 and 23 assists, respectively.
Kelani Talakai also posted 10 digs for AAMU.
New Orleans finished with 54 kills, 52 assists, 43 digs, three service aces and three blocks.
Celia Mbaya led the Privateers with 13 kills and seven digs, while Courtney Roundtree tallied 12 kills. Defne Eciroglu dished out 40 assists and had a team-high 10 digs.
