LOUISVILLE, Ky. | Alabama A&M University women's distance runner
Sanyae Gibson set a new school record in the 3000 meters during the opening day of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Friday at the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center in Louisville, Ky.
Gibson finished 38
th in the event, setting a new personal and school mark, logging a time of 10:34.24. She broke the record time of 10:36.49 set by
Laura Avila at the Vulcan Invitational on Jan. 10.
In the women's C Division 400m,
Shelby Sanders placed fourth, logging a time of 57.91, while in the men's 400m,
Kody Pugh posted a time of 49.04 to claim fifth.
Alisha Wilson, running in the 400m women's B Division, logged a season-best time of 56.27 to place eighth and
Jahson Gordon logged a time of 48.68 to finish sixth in the men's 400m and
Talil Atkins took 11
th, with a season-best time of 49.10.
In the 800m,
Brianna Samuels registered a time of 2:14.46 to take ninth, while in the 200m C Division, JoeQuez Keith just missed a school record, posting a time of 21.66, to place fourth. The mark was just 0.55 off the record held by DeTorrian Green's time of 21.11.
Justin Walker and
Cameron Andrews finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the long jump, with leaps of 7.23m.
